Staying Safe this Memorial Day: AWS Tips for Travel & House Parties

Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner, and whether you’re planning to host a backyard BBQ or hit the road for a quick getaway, it’s the perfect time to recharge and also stay safe.

At AWS, we’re all about innovation, ownership… and looking out for each other. So before you light the grill or pack your bags, check out a few quick safety tips to help you (and your loved ones) make the most of the long weekend.

Hosting a House Party? Let’s Keep it Chill & Safe

Grill with Care: Keep your BBQ setup away from anything flammable (yes, that includes your patio furniture and siding). Never leave it unattended.
Be Fire Smart: Check your smoke detectors and keep a fire extinguisher nearby, just in case.
Pace the Party: If alcohol is on the menu, encourage moderation and offer plenty of food and non-alcoholic options. Help guests arrange a safe ride home if needed.

Travel Plans? A Little Prep Goes a Long Way

Check Your Ride: Before hitting the road, make sure your vehicle is road-trip ready; tires, brakes, oil, all that good stuff.
Don’t Rush: Leave early, expect delays, and avoid peak traffic times if you can.
Emergency Ready: Pack water, snacks, chargers, a flashlight, and a basic first aid kit. Just in case.

Remember What It’s All About

While we enjoy the sunshine and well-earned time off, let’s also take a moment to honor the service members who gave everything. Gratitude is at the heart of this holiday and it reminds us to protect what matters most.

From all of us at AWS, here’s to a safe, meaningful, and fun Memorial Day weekend.
